Reference values for left atrial size by cardiovascular magnetic resonance in the Framingham Heart Study Offspring cohort
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Increased left atrial (LA) size is a marker for both clinical and subclinical cardiovascular disease (CVD) and is associated with excess cardiovascular risk. We sought to determine reference values for LA volume by CMR in a longitudinally followed, community-based cohort strictly free of major risk factors for LA enlargement, including: left-sided valve disease, hypertension, obesity, diabetes and clinical CVD.

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...
متن کاملReference ranges for cardiac structure and function using cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in Caucasians from the UK Biobank population cohort
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is the gold standard method for the assessment of cardiac structure and function. Reference ranges permit differentiation between normal and pathological states. To date, this study is the largest to provide CMR specific reference ranges for left ventricular, right ventricular, left atrial and right atrial structure and function derived from tr...

متن کاملRelations of insulin resistance and glycemic abnormalities to cardiovascular magnetic resonance measures of cardiac structure and function: the Framingham Heart Study.
BACKGROUND Data regarding the relationships of diabetes, insulin resistance, and subclinical hyperinsulinemia/hyperglycemia with cardiac structure and function are conflicting. We sought to apply volumetric cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in a free-living cohort to potentially clarify these associations. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 1603 Framingham Heart Study Offspring participants...
متن کاملAtrial dimensions in health and left ventricular disease using cardiovascular magnetic resonance.
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has superior spatial resolution compared with echocardiography, but assessment of normal measurements has lagged behind its increasing clinical application. We assessed atrial size by CMR in healthy and diseased subjects to determine normal adult ranges. METHODS Twenty normal adults and 20 cardiac patients with hypertrophic or dilated cardiom...
